Microsoft Edge: Troubleshooting Frequent Crashing and Closing
Summary
Microsoft Edge has released an update that has resulted in the browser frequently crashing, lagging, and generally performing poorly for users.
Troubleshooting
1) Navigate to File Explorer in the user's workstation and input the following information:
C:\Users\[Insert the user's username here]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Edge\user data
[Image Modified to Protect Sensitive Information]
2) You will be taken to a screen that looks similar to or exactly like the image displayed below. Click on Edge within the file path at the top.

3) This action will redirect you to the screen displayed below.
Rename the folder User Data to another file name.
There is no specific name that you need to choose.
Edge User Information is an example title that can be used.

After this file has been renamed, please open Command Prompt on the affected machine and run the script:
sfc /scannow reboot
This command will allow the files to repair themselves.
The machine will now reboot after completing the script.
After the computer has powered back on, Microsoft Edge should function properly.
